About Alex

Alexandra Roe,

Licensed Therapist  ·  EMDR Specialist  ·  Board Approved Supervisor

I became a therapist because I believe people can genuinely change. Not just cope better or manage symptoms, but actually feel different in their bodies and their lives.

EMDR is the approach I keep coming back to because I've watched it work when other things haven't.

A little more about me

Warm and direct.
Both at the same time.

My approach is warm and direct. I take the clinical work seriously, but I'm also a real person in the room with you. There will be moments of humor. There will be moments of sitting with something hard. I think both are part of good therapy.

I don't believe healing means you have to talk through every detail of what happened. A lot of the work we do is at the level of the body and the nervous system, not just insight and understanding. That's what makes EMDR so different from traditional therapy, and why I've built my practice around it.

I also consult with other therapists who are building their EMDR practices. Good clinical support changed how I work, and I want to offer that same kind of honest, grounded feedback to other clinicians.

Outside of work, you can find me reading, spending time with my pets and family, or snacking on something sweet.

How I work

The approaches I come back to
over and over.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. We work directly with the memories and experiences that are keeping you stuck, helping your nervous system do what it's already wired to do: process and integrate.

Internal Family Systems

We pay attention to the parts of you that show up. The part that shuts down. The part that's always on guard. The part that's exhausted. Getting to know those parts is often where the real work happens.

Trauma-informed, all the way through

Everything I do is grounded in an understanding of how trauma lives in the body and shapes behavior. That means we go at your pace, we build capacity before we process, and I take seriously how hard it can be to show up and do this work.

My Background

Where I've worked
before this.

Before opening my private practice, I worked in outpatient mental health and outpatient substance use treatment settings. Those experiences shaped a lot of how I think about people and about healing.

I learned early on that trauma and addiction almost always go together, and that treating one without the other doesn't get people very far. I also learned that people are more resilient than they give themselves credit for, and that the right support at the right time can change a lot.

I bring all of that into my private practice, whether I'm working with someone on trauma and anxiety or consulting with a therapist on a complex case.
