Now Offering EMDR Intensives!
This is not weekly therapy.
An EMDR Intensive is a carefully designed therapeutic container for individuals who are ready to process trauma in a focused, accelerated format. Instead of spending months circling the same memories, we create intentional space to work deeply with preparation and integration built in.
Evening and weekend availability 🌿 Virtual for anyone located in Maryland or Delaware
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based trauma therapy that helps the brain reprocess distressing memories so they no longer feel overwhelming or triggering.
In traditional therapy, EMDR happens in 50–60 minute sessions. In an intensive format, we extend the time. This allows your nervous system to stay engaged long enough to create meaningful shifts more efficiently.
Instead of months of weekly sessions, intensives allow you to:
🌿 Build therapeutic momentum
🌿 Reduce emotional activation around specific memories
🌿 Address multiple related targets in one focused block
🌿 Make noticeable progress in days instead of months
EMDR Intensives may be a good fit if you:
Have experienced trauma and feel stuck in recurring patterns
Have done talk therapy but still feel emotionally activated
Appear high functioning but feel internally overwhelmed
Have limited weekday availability
Prefer evenings or weekends
Want focused work around a specific event or trauma theme
Intensives are best suited for individuals who are emotionally stable enough for trauma processing and motivated for focused work. Readiness is assessed during your consultation.
Each intensive is structured and intentional. It is more than extended therapy hours.
We clarify your goals and trauma history and determine fit.
You will learn grounding and nervous system regulation tools to support safe trauma processing.
Intensives are scheduled in blocks ranging from:
3 Hour Focus Intensive
6 Hour Deep Dive
Two Day Trauma Intensive totaling 12 hours
Breaks are built in to support regulation and cognitive integration.
All packages include structured post intensive integration support to consolidate gains and plan next steps.
EMDR Intensives are private pay and not covered by insurance. They are designed as premium, specialized services due to the preparation, extended scheduling blocks, and depth of trauma work involved.

Virtual intensives allow you to engage in deep trauma work from the comfort of your own environment.
At Roe Counseling, trauma work is approached with steadiness, structure, and compassion.
The goal is to help your nervous system safely process what it has been holding so you can move forward with greater clarity and stability.
Intensives are reserved for clients who are ready for meaningful change and want a focused therapeutic container to do that work.
EMDR Intensives are not appropriate for everyone.
They may not be suitable if you are in acute crisis, experiencing active substance dependence, or lacking adequate emotional stability for trauma processing.
We will determine appropriateness together during your consultation.
How do I know if I am ready for an intensive?
Intensives are best for individuals who feel stable enough to process trauma and are ready for focused work. If you are unsure, we will determine readiness during your consultation. This format is designed to support progress, not overwhelm.
How is this different from weekly therapy?
Weekly therapy offers steady pacing over time. An intensive creates dedicated space to stay immersed in the work long enough to move through it more fully.
Many clients choose intensives when they want momentum and measurable progress in a shorter period.
Is virtual EMDR effective?
Yes. Virtual EMDR is supported by research and clinical experience when delivered in a structured format.
You will need a private space, reliable internet connection, and the ability to remain uninterrupted during scheduled blocks.
Will this feel overwhelming?
Trauma work can bring up strong emotions. Preparation and regulation tools are built into the process, and breaks are scheduled every 2.5 hours.
The goal is not to push beyond your capacity. The goal is to help your nervous system process what it has been holding in a supported way.
Why is this private pay?
EMDR Intensives are extended, specialized services that insurance companies do not reimburse. This format allows for depth, flexibility, and focused scheduling that is not restricted by insurance limitations.
What happens after the intensive?
Integration support is included in the 6 hour and two day packages. Some clients return to weekly therapy, while others schedule another intensive in the future.
We will create a follow-up plan that fits your goals and supports continued progress.
